WalesPONT logo

From the outset GAP has emphasised the importance of regional developments to co-ordinate grazing land and livestock. The past few years have seen a number of exciting developments. In Wales PONT (Pori Natur a Threftadaeth) was initiated in 2005 and now employs a co-ordinator covering Wales. For more information on the work of PONT please click here.

Northern Ireland

2006 saw the formation of GAPNI in Northern Ireland with the employment of two part-time co-ordinators at Ulster Wildlife Trust. This led to the development of a steering group and the production of a GAPNI Development Plan. If you are interested in finding out more about GAPNI please contact Andrew Upton or Rachel Bain at the Ulster Wildlife Trust, 3 New Line, Crossgar, Downpatrick, N. Ireland, BT30 9EP, tel 02844 830282, email gapni@ulsterwildlifetrust.org .

Scotland

2007 saw the biennial FACT/GAP Conference taking in place in Stirling in Scotland, including a workshop on supporting conservation grazing in Scotland. Further meetings are planned for Autumn 2007 to bring together interested partners and look at options for the future.  If you are interested in participating, please contact GAP's Jane Wilson, who covers Scotland as part of her role as Local Grazing Scheme Co-ordinator for the Northern UK. There are several very interesting conservation grazing projects currently underway in Scotland. Visit the Conservation Grazing Map tool for more information about these projects.
